CIAM Conference: About

Welcome to the website of the Contemporary Issues in Arts Management Conference - hear the future discuss the future!

This year's event took place at the Liverpool Cathedral Conference Centre from Monday, 3rd March until Wednesday, 5th March 2008.

The third year BA (Hons) Music, Theatre and Entertainment Management students at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts will discuss current topics affecting the arts industry. This year the presentations debated the following issues amongst others:

  • High arts on the big screen
  • The UK Music Industry: an 'Old Boys' Club' or a model of good practice?
  • European Capital of Culture as a tool for the regeneration of Liverpool
  • Don't judge a book – or album – by it's cover.
  • I'm with the B(R)AND- The developing relationship between Music and Brands.
  • The Long Tail: driving demand with filtering and recommendation technologies
  • New music, new fund – Powering up the industry
  • The business of music: Are 360 contracts the answer to the record industry's survival?
  • Rockonomics - How might the global economic slowdown affect the entertainment industry?
  • Righting copyright wrongs: Is copyright law wrongfully regulating creativity?
  • "Access All Areas" - Disability access within arts venues in the UK.

Due to capacity restrictions at Liverpool Cathedral, admission to the conference is by invitation only.
