The BA (Honours) Dance course is one of a kind. It offers high quality training in a wide variety of disciplines. I've gained so much from my training here and feel fully prepared to enter the professional industry. It's not only the course that's great, but the people too. The students you meet, the friends you make and the lecturers that help and support you all the way through training. LIPA has truly been one of the best choices I've ever made.

Career prospects

Dance factsheet imageOur programme aims to provide you with the best opportunities for gaining and sustaining employment in the commercial dance/entertainment sector.

Our graduates reflect sustained employment which includes work in musical theatre and current West End and touring productions, commercial film, television and music videos, as well as work with established reputable dance companies.

Each year we conduct a survey of our alumni who graduated almost four years earlier to find out what they did after leaving us. You can see the results of the latest survey by clicking on the factsheet image:

The Graduates Alleviate - two of our BA (Honours) Dance graduates

Many of our graduates from Dance have gone on to perform in high-profile roles in West End productions and international and touring shows.

These include Mamma Mia!, Miss Saigon, Spirit Of The Dance, Copacabana, Beatles: The Musical, Faust with the ENO,  Blood Brothers, Cabaret, We Will Rock You, Billy Elliot The Musical,  Chicago, Vampires Rock and Ben Hur Live.

In addition to working on stage in musicals and other dance orientated shows, many Dance graduates have  joined dance companies. These range from contemporary companies such as Richard Alston and Dancers to Ameba Acrobatic Company in Canada. A number have set up their own successful dance companies such as Strike Dance and Production. Many have appeared in music videos and TV commercials and also gain regular work as dancers and choreographers in the fashion, corporate, hospitality and leisure industries. Some have worked as backing dancers for international recording artists including Janet Jackson on The X Factor, Katy Perry and Pink at the 2008 MTV Europe Awards and Celine Dion in Las Vegas. One of our graduates was chosen to perform as one of 20 dancers cast out of 1,000 in the blockbuster film Mamma Mia starring Meryl Streep.
