The Sound Technology course here couldn't be more appropriate: the vast array of topics are taught in great detail and to a very high standard. The equipment we use is of the highest quality and mirrors what you'd expect to see in the real world. You progress to find your own direction and ambition, setting you up nicely for graduation and the world of work. There are strong industry links and you can gain outside experience with organisations as part of your studies. I've worked at the Liverpool Arena and Convetion Centre and hope to go on tour when I finish this summer.

To sustain your career in the sound industry we believe being a multi-skilled practitioner is a necessity. So, whether you see your future in recorded sound, live sound or postproduction, we help you develop skills in all of these areas.

We also equip you to be adaptable and teach you in such a way that you understand why you are doing things as well as what to do. It is  only by having this strong theoretical base, allied to practice that you can ensure that you can adapt to technical change as it happens.

Finally, although driven by technology, the industry is about working with people – without them the technical tools have no value. We provide the environment, the people and the tools to learn all these things.

You also have 24/7 access to our studios during term-time.

Average places available: Up to 30 each year

Career prospects

Sound Tech factsheet imageWe are proud of our graduate employment record. Sound Technology graduates are working in live sound and theatre sound design, recording studio engineering and production, audio systems design, radio production, sound for film and television and computer game audio. In addition, many of our graduates have set up their own successful companies in these areas.

Each year we conduct a survey of our alumni who graduated almost four years earlier to find out what they did after leaving us. You can see the results of the latest survey by clicking on the factsheet image:
