State-of-the-art Facilities
We occupy a majestic, Grade II-listed, 19th-Century building, which has been restored and transformed into a well equipped performing arts institute.
Performance Spaces
We have two main performance spaces, The Paul McCartney Auditorium (PMA) and The Sennheiser Studio Theatre.
Each year over 150 performances take place in these spaces - about half of these are to a public audience.
Dance Studios
Our dance studios are currently based in our Hope Street facility. All have specialist sprung floors and mirrors. There is also a Pilates studio with machine-based equipment and a treatment room.
Rehearsal Rooms
For musicians we have five large band rehearsal rooms, seven small band rooms, five rooms set up with piano/keyboards, one double bass room and two digital audio workrooms, complemented by an array of musical instruments and equipment.
There are a number of spacious rehearsal rooms, which are predominantly used for workshop-style teaching and as rehearsal spaces in the lead-up to performances. Some have their own sound and lighting facilities.
Lecture Theatre
We have our own lecture theatre and airy-seminar rooms for more traditional-style teaching, with a range of presentation equipment.
Stagecraft workshop
To make performance possible we have a large stagecraft workshop located behind the Paul McCartney Auditorium.
Costume and Wardrobe Department
We have a costume and wardrobe department in which costumes are planned and created for up to 30 separate productions throughout the year.
Management Office
To support our Music, Theatre and Entertainment Management course there is a dedicated Management Office with key communications equipment.
Recording Studios
There are six professionally equipped recording studios. All are 24 track and some have facilities for sound to picture production, surround mixing, mastering and editing.
Workstations
There are 12 off-line workstations to complement the HD systems in the studios. Each system runs Logic Studio, Pro-tools LE and a variety of software synthesizers and samplers such as Reason and Reaktor.
Radio Studio
We have a radio studio, capable of working in both self-op and live assist configurations, based around a Soundcraft RM8D broadcast mixer.
