Graduates Conference: Previous Conferences

The Graduates Conference 2008 was held in The Western Rooms of the Anglican Cathedral, Liverpool on the 7th March.  It was lead by the management students Holly Jeffry and her assistant Lance O’Maera. 


In 2008 the following guest graduates attended:

Marit O. Aspen

After graduating in 2004 Marit returned to Norway, where she worked for her old dance school managing the schools 20th Anniversary, producing three dance performances for the public during the jubilee year. In January 2007 she moved to Oslo to develop a career in TV.  Initially Marit got a job as a production assistant for Rubicon TV productions who are one of Norway’s largest production companies and a total supplier of TV-programmes for the Nordic channels. Shortly after joining Rubicon TV Marit became a production manager and since August 2007 has been the production manager for an entertainment show called “the most extraordinary person”, producing 13 programmes and one big gala performance for Norway’s third largest TV channel, TV Norway.


Nadja Kuenster

Nadja has worked on as a freelance marketing manager since her graduation, she has also worked on permanent contracts for various companies within the music & entertainment industry and the visual & performing arts. Nadja’s work spans from management of a Drum & Bass Arena (a youth music brand) and the marketing of their events.  Mobile marketing activities for Ministry of Sound and Orange including management and fundraising for Bottlefed, a Physical Theatre Company and marketing management for Liverpool Biennial.  Nadja currently works part-time as a marketing manager for CandoCo Dance Company.


Lynn Buschhüter

Lynn returned to Hamburg after graduating in 2004 and finished her hairdressing apprentership.  In 2005 Lynn started working as a freelancer at TopSpot, a PA and Karaoke rental company in charge of the licences of the Karaoke titles. Shortly after Lynn began working as a freelancer for Tapete Records, a small record label in Hamburg.  Lynn also completed her Arts Manager there, doing press and media work for them.  To gain more experience and broaden her horizons Lynn started an internship with studio Hamburg Production who are a large TV and Film production company.  It was not until 2006 that Lynn got a full time job with Arvato Mobile – A Bertelsmann Company as a content Manager (Music) for mobile entertainment. Lynn is now responsible for the music portfolio of the Benelux and Skandinavian market working closely with the licensing, reporting and sales department and with various record labels. Lynn is also in charge of the Benelux office supervising the people who work there in content related matters.  Now Lynn manages the whole (Ringtones, Wallpaper, Games, Videos etc..) mobile downloads portals of AOL, o2 and Simyo in Germany as wellas Telering in Austria and some other smaller affiliates.

 

Karen Davies

In February 2006 Karen started work in the Birmingham Barfly, a 400 capacity live music venue as Head Promoter where she booked touring acts through agents and managed the promotions team.  Now Karen works as Promotions Manager at Carling Academy Birmingham. Carling Academy Birmingham is a 3,000 capacity venue and it is Karen’s job to promote all events including bands and club nights that take place there.


Matt Vines

Matt graduated from LIPA in 2004 to work for Propaganda Management whose roster included Coldplay and Interpol he was working as a Day to Day Manager.  Matt left Propaganda in 2007 and formed his own management company before taking up a position as Senior Music Manager at Merlin Elite, who's diverse client management roster includes the likes of Simon Webbe, Vanessa-Mae, Jay Kay, Russell Watson, Natalie Imbruglia, Duncan James, Denise Van Outen & Jodie Kidd to name a few. Matt's role as a manager works across the Music, TV, Radio, Theatre, Corporate &
Branding industries simultaneously to provide a complete 1-to-1 package for artists that wish to spread their horizons outside of music alone, something that the Music industry as a whole is now moving towards.
