Paul McCartney Auditorium (PMA)

The Paul McCartney Auditorium at LIPAThis is one of LIPA’s two main performance spaces.

The Paul McCartney Auditorium can seat over 400 people. It is a traditional proscenium arch theatre with two staging levels and has flexible seating arrangements and optional thrust staging to create the right ambience for our varied styles of productions.

Each year over 120 performances take place in the PMA, about half of these are to a public audience – some are to an invited audience only. It is also where we hold the majority of our masterclasses.

As our largest space in the building it is also used for presentations to the whole student body.

The PMA has an ever developing range of production technologies.

This includes a wide range of intelligent lighting fixtures, a Wholehog 3 and Avolites Pearl lighting consoles, plus six other lighting desks for students to learn their craft on and a Catalyst Media server.

The space is also equipped with current industry sound technology kit. Sound reinforcement is driven by consoles from Soundcraft (GB8, SM24), Yamaha (PM5D-RH, M7CL-48, DM1000, LS9) and Allen and Heath (ML5000).

Loudspeaker systems include Meyer, DAS, Turbosound and d+b. Outboard processing features units from Drawmer, Yamaha and Klark-Technic. The PMA is also served by a Peavey Nion for system processing and routing.

The PMA is complemented by a green room lounge area and dressing rooms.
