Equality and Diversity

Welcome to Equality & Diversity at LIPA. As student, alumni, staff member or visitor this page signposts you to key information, although you will find equality and diversity as part of everything we do.

We aim to make people from a wide range of backgrounds feel welcomed, included and comfortable plus we aim to treat everyone with dignity and respect.

We are continually improving our accessibility and aim to adopt flexible responses to individual needs, identities and preferences. We would like to hear from you if you have any comments which can help us in this area.

You'll find a Student Induction Sheet in the bottom left hand corner of this page. This should provide you with the information you'll need to help you during your time at LIPA.

What can this page tell me ?

This page signposts you to information about

• How we aim to make equality and diversity part of all our work (see section A.4 of our Single Equality Scheme)
• Support and information available to you (see our Single Equality Scheme section A.7 and Appendix I or your Student Green Book available on LIPA-Net)
• Adjustments and adaptations already available to disabled people and how we respond to further requests for reasonable adjustments (see our Single Equality Scheme section D.9 and appendix A)
• How we aim to consult with our stakeholders and how we involve disabled people in our decision making (see our Single Equality Scheme section A.6 & D.6)
• Our Single Equality Action Plan (see our Single Equality Scheme section N)

Are you interested in Disability Issues ?

A Disability Interest Group has been started this year at LIPA. We aim to provide a supportive space where things that could or do impact on disabled students, staff or visitors can be discussed and shared with those who have responsibility to ensure disability equality within LIPA. If you are interested to find out more contact Kate Noble on k.noble@lipa.ac.uk.

What the Law also asks us to do about Equality & Diversity

Under United Kingdom anti-discrimination laws we have legal duties to eliminate discrimination and harassment, to promote equality of opportunity and to promote good relations between different groups. To do this we need to
• assess the impact of what we do on different groups
• collect and analyse data about equality between the different groups who study and work with us
and
• publish an annual report on how we are progressing against our equalities action plan.

If you'd like to take a look at these reports, you can download them via the links situated in the bottom left hand corner of this page.

Our dedicated Equality & Diversity Adviser is Kate Noble who can be contacted by e-mail on k.noble@lipa.ac.uk. Our Learner Support Manager, Rob Hughes, is also available on r.hughes@lipa.ac.uk or 0151 330 3013 and can help with a wide range of issues.
