The Independent Student Board
We are your ISB!
The Independent Student Board, ‘ISB’ for short, is a team of students at LIPA dedicated to providing support, funding and entertainment to the student body of the institute; essentially your own in-house production and events company!
Independence, enterprise and innovation are at the heart of the LIPA philosophy. The ISB is here to give you the opportunity to realise your creative ideas, whatever they may be!
Production Resources
We can give you access to the resources you need to put on a full scale production for free. Whether it’s rehearsal/performance space, sound and lighting equipment, crew, budget or marketing assistance, we’re here to help! Past ISB productions have included a wide range of events including gig nights, plays and dance pieces.
Social Events
The ISB is also responsible for organising LIPA’s social events throughout the year, including the infamous Freshers Fortnight, and something we like to call Refreshers, welcoming students back after the Christmas break.

Opportunities offered via our links with LJMU.
You are a member of Liverpool John Moores University’s (LJMU) Student Union, which means you can access their forty-plus special interest societies and sports clubs. These range from rugby to the lobbyists’ societies and include a LGBT community society, plus the opportunity to contribute to the Liverpool Student newspaper. LJMU also has a well equipped gym and you can take advantage of the student membership rates.
