Email: Debbie.huckin@autismadvice.co.uk
Debbie is originally from Lancashire, and trained as a Drama teacher in Manchester. Following working as Head of Drama in a large Comprehensive School in Milton Keynes, she decided to branch out and teach Drama within the Special Educational Needs field.
This was practised in Milton Keynes, Yorkshire and then back to Lancashire. She became particularly interested in Autism and leaving Drama behind at this stage, she concentrated on Autism in both Special and mainstream schools. She was asked to join a team of advisors for Blackburn Authority and supported children and young people on the Autism Spectrum. This involved working closely with families, Social Care and the Medical professionals. She also helped on the diagnostic team for Autism. At this stage she gained her Post Graduate certificate in Autism at Birmingham University.
Debbie gained further authority experience working for North Yorkshire for a short while. From here, she flew solo and for the last two years she has worked freelance as an advisor for Autism and related Communication Disorders. To date, this continues, however, Debbie is also interested in working in the Justice System for Autism and is pursuing some interests there.
