Copyright
U.K. copyright
law is set out in the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act
1988. Copyright is the right granted by law to an author,
composer, playwright, publisher or distributer to exclusive
publication, production, sale or distribution of a literary,
musical, dramatic or artistic work.
Once a person
creates an original work the law treats that work as the
exclusive property of the creator. Other people do not have
the automatic right to copy or reproduce the work without
first obtaining the author's permission or in some cases
be prepared to pay a fee.
Any unauthorised
copying or reproduction of a copyrighted work can incur
heavy penalties in the form of fines and injunctions from
the courts. |
