A New Brain

Music and lyrics by William Finn. Book by William Finn and James Lapine.

Gordon Schwinn is a talented songwriter suffering with writers block. Whilst trying to compose a song for a children’s television show, he suffers a medical crisis, which results with him lying in a coma. Prepare to enter the surreal and often hallucinogenic mind of a comatose Gordon. Discover how he finds his inspiration to write his best music whilst gaining a new appreciation for life. Along the way we are introduced to a multitude of characters including a determinedly upbeat mother, his lover, a singing frog and an enigmatic bag lady. A New Brain presents a witty and delightfully tuneful look at the life of an artist. Partly autobiographical, it is essentially a story about art, morality and love.

Performed by final year Acting students.

Suitable for all the family.
