The arts and creativity are increasingly being valued in health and education. This course is designed with two aims in mind. Firstly, to explore the debates and theories, which surround using the arts and creativity in a health and education setting. How can the arts help people develop? What therapeutic value do the arts have? What are the key theories of creativity? Secondly, to explore and develop strategies for the use of the arts in schools, healthcare settings and in a broader community setting. As part of this course, students will look at how to set up and manage activities, how to apply key concepts, and how to evaluate a project. This course would be of benefit to those already working in the health care, education or community arts sectors, who wish to enhance their skills.
Entry requirements
We welcome individuals over the age of 18. You would normally be already working or volunteering in situations where the skills being developed in this programme could be applied. If you are aged between 18 and 21, you should have studied a Level 3 qualification (such as A-Levels or BTEC National Diploma) but we don't specify subjects or grades. If you are over 21 and have not studied a Level 3 qualification, we would expect you to have some equivalent professional work experience. Due to the nature of the programme all applicants will be interviewed.
Please note: this course is subject to validation.
