Autumn/Winter Season of public performances

Our Autumn/Winter Season of public performances is a great opportunity for audiences to experience what the next generation of storytellers has to offer.

An eclectic and exciting mix, it includes historical comedy drama and satire, A Laughing Matter and The Vortex; live multi-media & multi-role productions, Constellations and The Effect; musicals – both devised and classic horror, The Life of the Party and Carrie: The Musical; an exhibition of art installations inspired by the mysteries of sleep, In Dreams; and the ever-popular LIPA Christmas Concert at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

The season is presented by our Acting, Dance, Filmmaking, Management, Music, Sound Technology, Theatre & Performance Design and Theatre & Production Technology students. They, in collaboration with some of the industry’s brightest creatives, will deliver every aspect of our shows. It provides them with the opportunity to use and extend their skills in a real-world setting.

Tickets are now on sale.

A Laughing Matter

13-15 November

Set in 1773, influential actor manager David Garrick must decide whether to stage the radical and unruly new comedy, She Stoops to Conquer – or bow to commercial pressure and play it safe.

An irreverent comedy that brings the world of 18th-century theatre vividly to life, complete with egos, wit, and the eternal struggle between artistic integrity and popular appeal.

Performed by third-year Acting students.

The Vortex

20-22 November

When Nicky returns home to confront his mother’s reckless affairs and his own inner demons - secrets quickly unravel.

The Vortex rips the lid off 1920s high society to expose the chaos and emptiness beneath the veneer.

A scandalous cocktail of wit, desire, and dysfunction – this is Noël Coward at his most daring and incisive.

The Life of the Party

27-29 November

When a superstar DJ pushes the crowd — and herself — too far, the party explodes.

She retreats into her music collection, only to find each genre and playlist testing her passion and desire to reconnect — with music, and with herself.

A devised musical, The Life of the Party is a kaleidoscopic journey through worlds of melody. It’s not just a night of theatre — it’s the party you’ve been waiting for.

Performed by third-year Dance students.

Two volunteers in a clinical drug trial find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other — but is it genuine connection, or just chemical reaction?

As emotions surge and ethics blur, the line between science and humanity begins to fray.

Intense and intoxicating, this multi-role version of The Effect explores the price of love, the pull of desire, and the lengths we go to feel something real.
