LIPA Widening Participation
Thanks for your interest in LIPA's widening participation outreach activities.
We work with schools and college groups and also offer programmes that individual students can apply for.

Please note: eligibility criteria apply for some of these activities which are targeted at those from groups where participation in higher education is lowest.
For those in school years 7 to 11
For those in school years 7 to 11
Our Year 10/11 Widening Participation Programme - aimed primarily at Merseyside students - consists of a series of activities which cover both performing and backstage aspects of the creative and performing arts. These take place at LIPA during school holidays and occasional evenings and aim to help students to progress their skills whilst exploring future career and training options within this exciting industry.

Applying to our Year 10/11 Widening Participation Programme
To apply for our Year 10/11 programme, the parent/guardian of the student (or the student alongside their parent/guardian) should complete the electronic registration form available here: Pre-16 Widening Participation Registration Form.
For those in Years 7 to 9 who are interested in the programme: You are welcome to register your interest now by completing the registration form. We will keep your details and contact you about steps to join the programme when you reach the end of Year 9.
Eligibility criteria apply to the Year 10 elements of the programme. Further information about our eligibility criteria can be found here: Eligibility criteria for Year 10 entry - WP programme
No eligibility criteria apply to the Year 11 elements of the programme, which is open to both new joiners and students who have already taken part in the programme during Year 10.
For those in year 12
For those in year 12
Get Set is a three-day residential experience which takes place in late July for Year 12 or equivalent students (who will be aged below 18 on 31st July 2023). To join us for this project, you must also meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
Live in a postcode where participation in higher education has traditionally been low
Be Black, Asian or from an ethnically diverse background
Be in local authority care or have previous experience of being in care
Workshop sessions are delivered by a combination of LIPA teaching staff, graduates and students, who share their experiences of studying with us, preparing for auditions/interviews and working in the performing arts industry.
Summer 2023 information will be available shortly and applications will open in January.
