Acting (Screen & Digital) student Daisy King-Clarke will perform at the West End’s Donmar Warehouse after being selected for Open Door’s Elevate programme.
Elevate acts as a bridge between training and employment by offering mentorships and workshops with leading industry professionals to final year drama school students from lower-income backgrounds.
Daisy was put forward by LIPA and chosen after two rounds of auditions. She says: “I was a bit shellshocked when I was told I’d been selected. I really didn’t expect it. I was hopeful but entered because I thought the process would be good experience.”
Elevate also organises an industry showcase, which this year takes place at Donmar Warehouse. Daisy is looking forward to it. “I’m excited and a little bit nervous, but it is a brilliant opportunity and I’m very lucky to be chosen.”
“I hope it will give me greater visibility in the industry while I’m still at LIPA. It’s a chance to get my face seen and my voice heard before LIPA’s showcases.”
The Open Door Elevate Showcase is on 11 March at Donmar Warehouse. LIPA’s graduating actors showcases are on 1 April at Underbelly Boulevard Soho and 4 April at Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester.
