Dignity and Respect within our Community

LIPA is committed to providing a working and learning environment that enriches lives, and where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. The Institution will not tolerate bullying or harassment or any type of behaviour that is contrary to dignity and respect perpetrated by its students or staff. Students, staff and visitors should not be treated unfavourably or be subjected to bullying or harassment because of race, colour, ethnic or national origin, sex or sexual orientation, marital or civil partnership status, religion or belief (or no religion or belief), maternity/pregnancy, gender identity or status, age, trade union membership, disability, offending background or any other protected characteristic.

This link details the behaviours that we consider unacceptable: Unacceptable behaviour.

Help and Guidance

Report a concern using our online form

The Institute is aware that there may be a number of barriers to reporting incidents. To help counter this, you have a choice of reporting methods.

If you want to use our online form you will find this at the end.

Using the online form, you can report a concern anonymously or as a third party or by identifying yourself. If you submit an anonymous report, we will be unable to offer you individual advice or support and the information you provide will be used for statistical purposes only. Where you identify yourself, your report will be submitted to staff in Registry and will be used to put you in touch with a Student Wellbeing Adviser who will advise you about your options for taking the matter forward and discuss the type of support available to you. Personal or identifiable information will not be disclosed to others without your consent unless we believe there is a risk to you or to another individual’s safety and wellbeing. Please note that in submitting either an anonymous or third-party report or by identifying yourself you are not initiating a formal complaint.

Report a concern in person to a member of staff

If you are a student, you may wish to report a concern in person to a member of staff. This could be, for example, your learning guidance tutor, a member of academic staff, security or staff in the Student Wellbeing & Disability team. To ensure that any potential legal proceedings are not prejudiced, that member of staff should, with the students permission, report the incident using the online form, noting it is a third party referral. There will be no requirement to name the student at this point.
