Twelve day music festival showcases LIPA students

Fifty one artists are performing over 12 days at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts’ (LIPA) annual music festival, 2ube Xtra.

This fully produced showcase opened on 17 April and runs until 3 May and is a great opportunity for third year Music students to launch their careers.

2ube Xtra features local, national and international acts performing all original material in a range of different genres, making it a key event in Liverpool’s musical calendar for audiences wishing to experience new music from up-and-coming artists.

Ariádne is a third year BA (Hons) Music (Songwriting & Performance) student, who started at LIPA as a foundation certificate student. She performs in the final week of the festival: "I am beyond excited about 2ube Xtra! This is the moment I have been waiting for since foundation and it is unbelievable that it is just around the corner.

"I always love being on stage and interacting with the audience. Performing is when I feel the safest and at ease so I cannot wait to go on stage on the 2nd of May."

Staged in the Paul McCartney Auditorium, 2ube Xtra is run and organised by students with Filmmaking, Management, Sound Technology and Theatre Production and Design students playing a vital role in delivering the event.

Tickets are free but are going fast and can be booked on the 2ube Xtra page at Skiddle. You can keep up to date with 2ube Xtra on Instagram and performances will be available on YouTube after the event, where you can also see previous years’ festivals.
